Shelley Greenwood
Shelley joined Paul Schatz Furniture in 2013 in the position of Sales Manager. She has been an interior designer for over 35 years in the interior design field. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oregon State University and is a tried and true "Beaver Believer."
DESIGNER Q&A
What are your main influences? What is your design philosophy?
Influences in this position are mentors I have worked with over the years. Most importantly, my father. He saw my talent and always had a positive word spurring me to continue. My design philosophy is very simple - get to know your client! Learn all you can about that person, ask those questions, and get it right the first time. A client should love their space and never want to change it; only add "touches".
What do you love most about designing?
The utter joy on a client's face when the project is completed and they see it for the first time.
What are your favorite brands/materials to work with?
The United States has so many incredible furniture manufacturers. I am fortunate to be able to represent a business which prides itself on offering the majority of its product from the US. From Stickley to a relatively new upholstery company called Taylor King. All the products we feature are built to last, well-tailored and well-constructed; pieces meant to last a lifetime.
What are your favorite rooms to work on?
I'm a little partial to dining rooms. Simple elegance where everyone can gather and converse. Another favorite would be the front entry. The front entry is a room where it tells you what's going to happen next. Make a statement.
What makes Paul Schatz special? Why should people come here for their furnishings?
What brought me to this company was the fact that it is a family-owned organization, in business for nearly 100 years. The owners are willing and open to try new ideas, ready to move with the times, and allow me to do what I am good at.
